About
My name is Kym Couch and I started Babywearing 101 to more effectively teach babywearing to others.
When the stroller was invented in the 1700s, babywearing fell out of fashion in Western culture and the centuries-long ancestral lineage of passing down babywearing knowledge was broken.
In the United States, carriers are highly commercialized, but babywearing is a biologically beneficial practice and expensive carriers are not necessary for babywearing.
Knowledge of how to safely babywear is necessary.
I began creating educational babywearing videos on TikTok to help other caregivers. I dove into the babywearing community and began deepening my knowledge of babywearing safety in order to responsibly teach others.
I became a Certified Babywearing Educator (CBWE) through both Adjoyn and the Black Babywearing Week Babywearing Educator course. But learning never has an end date and I continue to expand and develop my knowledge.
Babywearing 101 exists to provide a landing place for sharing information about babywearing.
Happy babywearing!
My mission is to provide you knowledge for safely and confidently babywearing.
